About
As growing health disparities in marginalized communities continue to negatively impact health outcomes and challenge the individual and communal quality of life, the flame for starting the Austin Movement Project sparked. Founder, Dr. John Longoria saw first-hand the lack of minority representation throughout his educational and career journey, which inspired him to try and empower youth within these communities to aim for higher education opportunities and increase representation in the medical community. As continued research highlights these health and educational disparities, the need for intervention has driven the creation of the Austin Movement Project.
AMP is a 501(c)3 with the mission to provide pro-bono physical therapy services to marginalized communities, advocate for direct access to physical therapy services and increase access to healthcare resources, and invest in youth engagement to empower higher educational opportunities through exposure and experience within healthcare settings.
